Hampstead Man Charged With Killing His Wife In Fatal Fire

He was arrested on Fri., Dec. 16th.

 
Westminster, Md. (KM) The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Hampstead man with 1st- and  2nd-degree murder in connection with a fatal house fire last month. Robert Charles Schech, Sr., 69, was arrested on Friday. He’s also charged with 1st-degree arson, malicious burning and fraud.

On November 13th at around 1:30 AM, fire fighters responded to the 2600 block of Hoffman Mill Road in Hampstead for a house fire with someone trapped. Investigators say multiple fires were set in the home, preventing an occupant identified as Donna Marie Schech, 55, from escaping. She died of heat and smoke-related injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
