Pedestrian Struck On I-81 Thurs. Morning

He was flown to Shock Trauma for treatment.

 

Hagerstown, Md (KM) A Hagerstown man was struck by a motor vehicle Thursday morning along Interstate 81 just north of Route 40 in Washington County.

State Police say William A. Harp, 68, was standing on the right shoulder when he ran out into the highway and was hit. Harp made his way on to the median. He told troopers he was looking for his dog.

Harp was treated at the scene by medics and then flown by State Police helicopter to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

The driver of the striking vehicle, a 2014 Volvo, is identified as Henry Nguyen, 59, of Silver Spring.

The incident remains under investigation.
