Three-Vehicle Crash Friday Night Closes Part Of I-70

One person was flown to Shock Trauma.

Hagerstown, Md (KM) A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Washington County between Boonsboro and Middletown Friday night kept the highway closed until early Saturday morning.

Maryland State Police say a tractor trailer was traveling westbound when it struck a Dodge Ram pickup. The impact caused the pickup to swerve into the median and overturn. The big rig also entered the median, spilling its load of metal rods  on to eastbound I-70.

A Dodge Caravan traveling eastbound on I-70 struck the metal rods, causing it to overturn.

The driver of the tractor trailer, identified as Jose Sifuentes, 45, of Dallas, Texas, was taken to Meritus Medical Center.

The operator of the Caravan, Nita McCargar, 55, of Wadsworth, Ohio, was taken to Meritus, along with a passenger, Arora McCargar, 17.

Three occupants of the Dodge Ram were taken to Meritus Medical Center: Trevor Mills, 25; Matthew Florence, 26; and  Nicholas Doyle, 24;

Jesse Michl, 24, was flown to Shock Trauma.

That area of I-70 was closed for several hours while State Police conducted an accident reconstruction, and the metal rods were  removed.
