Train Strikes Car At Railroad Crossing

The driver was not hurt.


Woodbine, Md (KM) There were no injuries Saturday afternoon after a car was hit by a train at a railroad crossing in Carroll County.

The Sheriff’s Office says the driver of a Ford Focus was the third car behind two other vehicles waiting at the crossing at Woodbine Road at the Carroll and Howard County line. The warning lights at the crossing had been activated.

The 21-year-old operator of the Focus traveled around the other two vehicles, entered the railroad crossing and was struck by the train.

The car sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene. There was only minor damage to the train.

The driver of the Focus was cited for failingĀ  to stay right of center, failing to obey the railroad crossing gate and barrier, and driving on an expired license.
