Police Report Phone Scam In Frederick

Callers say a victim’s relative has been in an accident.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) It’s a fairly familiar scam, and it’s been reported in the Frederick area.

Police say a group of males with thick accents have contacted victims, and said that a family member has been involved in an accident. They ask for money, and become threatening and intimidating.

If you’ve received such a call, you’re urged not to give money to anyone you don’t know. You’re also advised not to give out any personal information about yourself or your family members. Instead, contact your local police and report the call.
