CSX says no one was hurt, and no hazardous spilled.
IJAMSVILLE, Md. (AP) – Freight train operator CSX Corp. says it’s investigating an eight-car derailment in Maryland about 35 miles west of Baltimore.
Spokesman Rob Doolittle says no hazardous materials were spilled and no one was hurt when the cars derailed around 8 a.m. Thursday near the unincorporated community of Ijamsville.
The eight cars left the tracks near the Whiskey Creek Golf Club.
Doolittle tells The Frederick News-Post the 180-car train was traveling from Cumberland to Baltimore.
Doolittle says he doesn’t know how long the cleanup will take.
