Fire Damages Mr. Tire Store On North East St.

There were no injuries.

Frederick, Md (KM). Fire fighters were busy Tuesday afternoon battling a fire at the Mr. Tire store at 901 North East Street in Frederick.

Battalion Chief David Barnes says personnel were dispatched to the scene at around 1:28 PM, and found smoke coming from the building. “Upon investigating on the interior of the structure to locate the source of the smoke, they found a fire in a bathroom towards the rear of the store that was extending into the garage area,” he says.

Fire fighters were able to contain the blaze within 20- to 25-minutes. There were no injuries.

While personnel were dousing the flames, Barnes says other fire fighters were ventilating the structure which included cutting open the roof and opening some windows. “Crews performed a search to confirm there were no occupants inside and in danger,” he said.

The Rapid Intervention Task Force was called to the scene to provide support for the initial first responders, but Barnes says their services were not needed as the fire was brought under control very quickly.

“The cause still remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office, and the damage is estimated at $50,000,” says Barnes.

Most of the emergency units cleared the scene before 2:00 PM.
