Local Merchants Comply With Tobacco Laws

Frederick Police report none sold tobacco products to minors during a recent compliance check.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick Police are reporting some good news when it comes to tobacco compliance checks. During an operation on Monday, March 13th, where underage volunteers attempted to buy cigarettes and other tobacco products from 30 area merchants, authorities say none of retailers sold tobacco products to the young people.

The Police Department says it thanks these local stores for complying with state laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors:

The operation was funded by a grant from the SYNAR Fund which is administered by the Frederick County Health Department, Substance Abuse Prevention Services.

Police say merchant training is available to help employees comply with the law prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors.
