Frederick News Post Sold To Ogden Newspapers

Sale is expected to be completed by May 1st.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick News-Post will be sold. In a news article on its website Wednesday, Randall Family LLC said it intends to sell the paper it’s operated for 134 years to Ogden Newspapers. The buyer is a family owned media company in Wheeling, West Virginia which owns 40 daily newspapers around the country, including the Journal in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and the Northern Virginia Daily in Strasburg, Virginia.

Ogden’s Chief Executive Officer, Bob Nutting, says the sale could be completed by May first, but it may take until June first. The News-Post is Ogden’s first newspaper in Maryland.

He spoke to News-Post staff on Wednesday, according to the paper’s website.

The News-Post is a single-site media company which is facing difficult challenges, according to the article on its website. Randall Family LLC says that led to the decision to sell the newspaper.

Nutting says he doesn’t plan to move any of the News-Post’s operations outside of Frederick County.
The News-Post has more than 130 full time employees and Nutting says there are no plans to staffing changes. However, the article says, he says employees will go through interviews for their jobs.

The also includes theĀ  paper’s building on Ballenger Center Drive,along with the printing press.
