Safety Seat Checkpoint To Be Held Friday At Lowe’s

Parents can learn more about how to install child safety seats.

Frederick, Md (KM) A child safety seat checkpoint will be held on Friday, March 24th at the Lowe’s on Buckeystown Pike from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. It’s sponsored by the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services.

Child safety seat technicians will be on hand to show parents how to properly install these seats. They will complete a checklist while teaching parents how to properly install and correctly use their seat or seats. Appointments take 45-minutes per car seat.

Parents are urged to pre-install the seats to the best of their ability, and bring the seats in your vehicle to the checkpoint, along with your vehicle’s owner’s manual and theĀ  child safety seat owner’s manual.

If you can’t come to the checkpoint and would like to have your child safety seat inspected, call 301-600-SEAT (7328) and make an appointment.

Fire and rescue officials say 75% of child safety seats in Maryland are installed improperly. State law requires children under the age of eight to be placed in child safety seats, infant seats or forward facing seatsĀ  unless the child is 4-feet 9-inches or taller.
