New Windsor, Md. (LR) A Carroll County man was charged with arson on Thursday after he intentionally set his garage on fire.
After a thorough investigation, The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says on March 11th, shortly after 10:30 PM, Bruce Reed, 62, set the fire using gasoline and an open flame device before going to a neighbor’s house to inform them of the fire. Reed’s neighbors witnessed black smoke coming from the garage and called 9-1-1.
Firefighters responded to 1620 Bowersox Road in New Windsor and spent 15 minutes bringing the flames under control. Damage to the structure is estimated at $10,000.
Deputy State Fire Marshal’s charged Reed with 2nd-degree arson.
He was transported without incident to the Carroll County Detention Center where he is currently waiting on a bond review.
