Fire Destroys Garage In Westminster Last Week

No one was injured.

Westminster, Md (KM) Damage from a garage fire in Carroll County last week is estimated at $200,000: $70,000 to the structure; $130,000 to the contents.

Personnel from the Gamber and Reese Volunteer Fire Departments responded on Thursday at  2:40 PM to 646 Deer Park Road in Westminster for the one-alarm fire. They had the flames under control within 20-minutes. No one was hurt.

A total of 20 fire fighters responded to the scene, along with a tanker task force.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the owner was doing some hot work on a vehicle inside the garage when sparks set some nearby combustibles on fire.

Investigators say the flames caused some damage to an above ground swimming pool and a large camper trailer near the garage. Some radiant heat damage was observed on the exterior of the home.
