Montgomery County Police Officer Hit By Car

The officer’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

CLARKSBURG, Md. (AP) — Montgomery County police say an officer was struck by a car on Interstate 270 during a pursuit involving a stolen car.

Media outlets report that the officer was hit early Thursday while chasing two people who jumped out of a stolen car near the Clarksburg Road exit. Police tweet that the officer’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police say officers started pursuing a car that had been reported stolen in the Gaithersburg area and the pursuit continued onto northbound I-270. Two people got out of the car before the Clarksburg Road exit and fled on foot. Police say an officer was struck by a car on the shoulder of southbound lanes during the search.

Police are still looking for the two people who jumped out of the car.
