Frederick Police Arrest Man for Pot with Intent to Distribute

FREDERICK, Md. (KR)  The Frederick Police Department arrested a man on Tuesday for the possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

Just before 9 PM, officers pulled over a vehicle in the area of Ellrose Court and Hillcrest Drive in Frederick after observing suspicious activity.

Police say, the driver and 2 other passengers were acting nervous when they approached the car. After asking if there was anything illegal in the car, the rear passenger, 24 year old, Amari Porte gave the officer a device containing wrapped baggies of marijuana inside. After searching the vehicle, police also located a large amount of money and a mason jar containing 26 other baggies of pot. The total weight of the suspected marijuana was 29 grams.

Porte was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within one thousand feet of a school, possession of marijuana in the amount of 29 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
