Sheriff’s Office Investigating Tailgate Thefts

They’ve occurred during the overnight hours on the weekends in rural areas.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says it has taken 13 reports of tailgate thefts from trucks in the Ijamsville, Bartonsville, Monrovia, Mount Pleasant and Mount Airy areas.

 

The thefts are mostly occurring in rural residential areas during the overnight hours, and they usually take place in the same community at the same time. The vehicles being targeted are late model, Ford Super Duty pickups.

 

Deputies are urging anyone to report suspicious activity by calling 911. In addition, citizens are strongly encouraged to park their vehicles in well lit areas, and keep them locked. Also, If your tailgate has a locking mechanism, keep in engaged at all times.
