State Fire Marshal Investigating Sharpsburg Vehicle Fire

SHARPSBURG, Md. (KR) The Maryland State Fire Marshals Office is investigating a vehicle fire in Washington County.

Fire officials say, they responded to the scene of a car in flames just before 5 AM at 16300 Canal Road in Sharpsburg, after a neighbor noticed it was on fire and called 911.

Authorities say, it took 5 firefighters from the Sharpsburg Fire Department, 5 minutes to put out the fire in the Nissan Ultima. Fire Officials say the fire was started in the interior passenger compartment by an incendiary device.

The owner, Jean Paul, was not in the vehicle at the time and there were no other injuries. Estimated damage to the vehicle is $8000 dollars.
