Investigators say the cause was accidental.
Westminster, Md (KM) Investigators with the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office say a home in Carroll County which was damaged by a one-alarm fire Tuesday afternoon is a complete loss.
60 fire fighters were dispatched to 1500 Richardson Road in Westminster for a two-story, single family house on fire. They spent 40-minutes bringing flames under control. No one was home at the time, and there were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $250,000 to the structure and $100,000 to the contents. .
The cause was accidental, due to a heat lamp igniting a plastic container of baby chicks.
The family of two adults and three children are being assisted by the Red Cross.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire originated in a front door entryway and was discovered by a passerby.
