Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police continue to investigate a stabbing Thursday morning at the Country Hill Apartments.

Lt. Clark Pennington with Frederick Police says officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Heather Ridge Drive at around 9:30 AM. “Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from a single stab wound to the upper chest,” he says.

The victim was treated at the scene, and then transport to a local medical center. Pennington says the victim, at last word, was in serious but stable conditions. His injuries are not  considered life-threatening at this time,  says Pennington.

“During the course of the investigation, we learned our male victim was involved in a verbal altercation with a female when a second male suspect entered the argument, and the two males became involved in an altercation,” says Pennington. “During that altercation, our suspect male, identified as Kareem Charles, 24-years-old, stabbed our victim one time in the chest.”

He says Charles was located in a nearby apartment and taken into custody without incident.

Lt. Pennington says Charles is charged with one count each of 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

He says the investigation into this incident is continuing. “We’re still currently following up on witnesses, looking at information and evidence collected on the scene, and ultimately, that will be presented to the State’s Attorney’s Office for prosecution,” Pennington says.
