Officials continue search for the gunman.
Frederick, Md. (LR) – The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the gunman who shot a 16- year old male Monday evening in Frederick.
Frederick County Emergency Services received a report of gunshots, yelling and individuals fleeing on foot from the area of the Emmanuel Alliance Church in the 7100 block of Ladd Lane in Frederick at approximately 5:03 p.m..
Emergency Services received a second call from a resident in Crestwood Village shortly after, indicating that four men came to their location requesting assistance for a gunshot wound.
Deputies responded and found the teenager from Frederick with a gunshot wound to his upper leg.
He was transported to Meritus Hospital in Washington County, where he was treated and later released.
After preliminary investigation, The Sheriff’s Office revealed that the victim and three of his friends were on the grounds of the church when a lone gunman started firing shots at them. Then, all four individuals fled across New Design Road to avoid the shooter.
Deputies conducted an extensive search with the help of a K9 and a Maryland State Helicopter, but the gunman was not located.
The shooter is described as a black male in his late teens to early 20’s with a medium build wearing jeans and a dark jacket.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information that might lead to the identification and arrest of the gunman, to contact DET Britt at 301-600-3601 or their TIPS LINE at 301-600-4131.
