Frederick Man Arrested For Drug Offenses, Resisting Arrest

Police say he tried to flee on foot during a traffic stop.


Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick man is charged with several drug offenses and resisting arrest. Larry Herman Bowens III, 26, was arrested on Wednesday following a traffic stop.
Police say Bowens was the driver of a car which failed to stop at an intersection of Grove Hill Road and a parking lot. Officers with the Street Crimes Division pulled over the vehicle in the area of South McCain Drive and Orchard Way.

Authorities say Bowens was visibly shaking when they approached, saying there was nothing in his car, and also breathing very heavily. A police canine was called to the scene, and gave a positive alert for narcotics.

Bowens was asked to get out of the car. Once outside, he attempted to flee, running across South McCain Drive with officers in pursuit He was apprehended a short time later, but continued to resist arrest by keeping his hands under his body and out of view. But police were able to put him in handcuffs, authorities say.

During a search of his person, police found 56 grams of a white powdery substance which was suspected cocaine, and two small baggies of marijuana. While searching Bowens’ car, officers located 56 grams of a flat round “cookie” of suspected crack cocaine, and ten grams of a “rock” like substance also suspected of being crack cocaine.

Bowens was charged with one count each of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

He was taken to the Adult Detention Center.
