State Trooper Injured in Thursday Night Crash in Washington County

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (KR)  A Maryland State Trooper was injured in a Thursday Night Crash in Washington County. Just before 11:00 PM, deputies responded to a three vehicle accident on East bound I-68 on Sidling Hill.

Authorities say, a freight-liner tractor trailer was traveling east bound on the interstate and struck the rear of a Maryland State Police Cruiser and a Chevy Ventura Van. Troopers say the truck driver, Ronald Shambaugh from Cumberland, failed to give his full attention to the cars in front of him when he struck the vehicles.

Sergeant L. Broadwater, driving the police cruiser was flown to the University of Maryland Trauma Center with back and neck injuries.

The driver of the van that was also struck, Philip Armbrecht from Evansville, Wisconsin was taken to War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia with minor injuries.
