Fatal Tractor Trailer Crash On I-70
(HAGERSTOWN, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal tractor trailer crash on eastbound I-70 in Washington County.
Shortly after 5:30 AM Thursday, police responded to an accident on I-70 eastbound after Route 65.
Police say a tractor trailer went over an embankment on the right side of the interstate.
Witnesses told investigators the tractor trailer was eastbound on I-70 in the fast lane, when the truck swerved into the left side median. They said the truck then came back across the interstate and ran off the right side of the roadway, going down the embankment and striking a tree.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
