Thurmont Man Arrested On Drug & Weapons Offenses

Sheriff’s Deputies confiscated drugs, paraphernalia and Weapons.

Thurmont, Md (KM) A large amount of drugs, paraphernalia and weapons were confiscated Tuesday night by Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Authorities responded to a home in the 10,700 block of Powell Road in Thurmont for a drug complaint. As they were waiting for a search warrant to be signed, Justin Godfrey Mitchell, 34, who was the target of their investigation, drove up. He was stopped and a police canine was called to the scene to do a search. The dog gave a positive sniff for drugs. Deputies found numerous syringes, suspected methadone and $2243.00 dollars in cash in Mitchell’s vehicle. .

Authorities conducted a search of the home and found 794 grams of marijuana, 990 Xanax bars, 3 Oxycodone pills, 19 methadone pills, steroids, a 9mm handgun and a loaded 12GA pistol grip shotgun.

Mitchell was taken into custody, and charged with drug and weapons offenses.
