But he says he may consider running for the County Council.
Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Alderman Phil Dacey says he’s not running for re-election, nor is he seeking another elected office in the upcoming elections in Frederick. In a statement, Dacey says he’s “actively exploring” a run for an at-large County Council seat.
In that same statement, Dacey, a Republican, says it’s been an honor to serve on the Board. “I have enjoyed working together and building partnerships with my colleagues across the aisle,” he says.
He cites has his promise to reduce taxes by phasing out the business personal property tax and the manufacturing tax credit. Dacey also says he stood up for property owners’ rights, funding a year-round homeless shelter, starting development of the Hargett Farm property, and investing in roads such as Monocacy Boulevard and Christopher’s Crossing.
In his statement, Dacey also says he’s looking at a run for an at-large County Council seat. “I see the dysfunction of the government at the county level and feel that I can bring stable, responsible leadership to deliver results for Frederick County citizens,” he says.
Dacey is the second incumbent Aldermen to decide not to run in 2017. Democratic Alderman Josh Bokee says he’s not seeking re-election. Michael O’Connor, also a Democrat, has decided to run for Mayor of Frederick. Alderwomen Donna Kuzemchak and Kelly Russell, both Democrats, have announced they’re running for re-election.
