Frederick Police Give 4th of July Safety Tips

Thousands are expected to gather for the Fourth of July celebration at Baker Park. If you’re planning to head out to Baker Park for the Fourth of July, Frederick Police have a few tips to keep you safe. Michelle Bowman, Public Information Coordinator for the Frederick City Police said  to park away from Baker Park and walk in. Parking in city parking decks will be free that day. And pack your patience! There will likely be a lot of traffic leaving the park after the fireworks. Bowman says officers will be busy directing traffic and won’t be able to give directions. Police also want to remind residents to report all suspicious activity or unattended bags.

“We’re asking the public, if they see something, say something. Anything suspicious, any suspicious backpacks, bags, suitcases, anything, please let us know. We’d rather be safe than sorry,” said Bowman.

In case you get separated from your child, Bowman says police are prepared to help. She says to call 911 or the non-emergency number and officers will try to reunite families as soon as possible.
