Welfare Check Leads TO Arrest Of Frederick Man For Drug Offenses

Police say he was found sleeping in a car.

Frederick, Md (KM) Drug charges have been filed against a Frederick man who was arrested on Thursday. Preston Steven Preece, 35, was taken into custody in the 800-block of Motter Avenue.

Police say they were asked to do a welfare check in that area where they located Preece inside of a car parked between the curb and the sidewalk. He told officers he hadn’t slept in days and pulled over to take a nap. But authorities say they spotted a burnt glass pipe in the vehicle which is used to smoke crack cocaine. Preece was placed under arrest.

A search of his vehicle netted a small quantity of crack cocaine.

Preece was taken to the Adult Detention Center for processing. He’s charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
