CREST Names Executive Director

She has been in that position since July 17th.

 


Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Center for Research and Education in Science and Technology has an executive director. The CREST Governing Board on Tuesday announced that Doctor Joanne Horn has been named to the post as of July 17th.

Dr. Horn earned her Ph. D at the University of California at Berkeley, and has been working in research, education and management in the government, academic and industrial sectors. She had been working as a contractor for CREST for the past six months.

“I am looking forward to working with the CREST Board to devise and execute CREST programs which will prove a significant boost to the Frederick economy and broaden opportunities for our STEM {Science, Technology, Engineering and Math} employers and students,” said Dr. Horn, in a statement. “We are already in the process of launching our inaugural offering through UMCP {University of Maryland at College Park} in November and we are exploring research collaborations with our local employers.”

CREST was established to offer academic and research opportunities for those employed in the science, technology and engineering fields..
