Motorcycle Crash Kills Mt. Airy Man

His bike rear-ended an SUV.

 


Mt. Airy, Md (KM) A Mount Airy man operating a motorcycle was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday night.

State Police say Michael Wade Sirk, 62, was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound along Route 27 north of Route 144 on the Frederick County side of Mount Airy when his bike hit the rear of a Nissan Rogue.

Sirk was thrown from his motorcycle, and suffered major trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Rogue was not hurt.

State Police say speed was a factor in this crash, but troopers are looking into other factors contributed to this accident.

Route 27 near Ridge Road remained closed for about four hours while troopers conducted their investigation.
