FREDERICK, Md. (KR) Maryland State Highway Administration is inviting local residents to an information meeting about the route 487 bridge replacement. The meeting, about the Brunswick bridge, will be on Wednesday September 6th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM and is open to the public.
Lindsey Franey, with SHA, says displays will show the proposed improvements and representatives will be available to answer questions.
“The bridge was constructed in 1925 and its structurally safe however, it’s showing signs of deterioration, so to prolong the life of the bridge, we are going to widen and replace the roadway surface,” said Franey.
She said for about 9 months drivers will be detoured to Brunswick street.
“When we actually are going to start work, it will be early in the year, next year, so when we begin work we’re going to start with utility re-location. Folks will still be able to use the bridge, once we start work on the bridge, we will close the bridge and detour traffic,” said Franey.
Construction on the bridge is scheduled to begin on in April 2018. For more information, go to www.roads.maryland.gov and type in MD 478 in the search box.
