Man Arrested For Trying To Start A Fire At A Group Home

He’s also charged with assaulting four people with a fire extinguisher.

 


New Windsor, Md (KM A man who tried to start a fire at a group home where he lived, and assaulted employees and clients with a fire extinguisher has been arrested. David Lee Fisher,29, has been charged with 1st-degree arson, 2nd-degree malicious burning, two counts of 2nd-degree assault, four counts of reckless endangerment and one county of malicious destruction of property.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says on Friday evening at around 7:15, staff members at Benchmark Human Services at 3026  Buffalo Road in New Windsor called 911 after a client tried to set fire to a closed office door where employees were inside. Authorities say Fisher also got a hold of a fire extinguisher and discharged it.

He got out of the group home, but was apprehended by Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputies. Fisher was taken to Carroll Hospital Center for an emergency evaluation.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says Fisher tried to set fire using a lighter and cologne.

Two employees and two clients were taken to the hospital for inhalation of dry chemical from the fire extinguisher. All four have been been released.

According to its website, Benchmark Human Services provides services to individual with disabilities or mental illness.
