Frederick Man Arrested Following A Traffic Stop

During the stop, police located a stolen car.

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police arrested a local man for car theft. Ange Axel Kouame, 18, of the Unit Block of Waverly Drive, was taken into custody early Tuesday morning following a traffic stop in the area of Waverly Drive and Key Parkway.

Authorities say the driver tried to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.

Officers say Kouame didn’t know the owner of the car. They contacted the owner, who believed her car was still parked outside of her apartment. She told police she left her purse in the vehicle which had a spare key, and the vehicle was unlocked. The owner also said she doesn’t know Kouame, and did not give him permission to drive her vehicle.

Authorities say Kouame broke into the car, and stole it seconds before he was pulled over by police.

He was taken to the Adult Detention Center for processing. Kouame is charged with felony theft, theft of a motor vehicle, tampering with a motor vehicle, driving without a license and attempting to flee on foot.
