Fire Destroys Farm House In Middletown

The house was abandoned.

Middletown, Md. (DG) – Fire destroyed a house on Old National Pike in Middletown on Wednesday night.

Battalion Chief Kevin Fox with Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services said the call came in around 7:20 PM.

“The initial report was for an outside investigation of a fire as some residents noticed some smoke rising from the field. Upon arrival of the fire department, they noticed that a two-story abandoned farm house was fully involved,” Fox said.

He said the Rapid Intervention Task Force was called in, but it was too dangerous to enter the home so they fought the flames from outside home.

Due to the fire, the structure collapsed. No one was hurt and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
