Hagerstown Regional Airport Receives Federal Grant

The money comes from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program.

Washington DC (KM) Some federal money is coming to the Hagerstown Regional–Richard A. Henson Field Airport. Maryland Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin announced the airport will be receiving $875,000 to purchase a rotary plow vehicle to clear the airfield during adverse weather conditions, and keep it open.

“These funds are a federal investment in Washington County, and all the businesses and residents who depend on our regional airports for trade and transportation,” says Senator Cardin, in a statement. “Ensuring our local airports are safe and able to meet demand is critical to keeping our economy moving. I will continue working hard to ensure all our regional airports have the resources they need.”

Senator Cardin is a member of the Environment and Public Works Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee.

“Regional and general aviation airports connect Maryland businesses with opportunities up and down the Eastern Seaboard,” says Senator Van Hollen, in a statement. “Hagerstown Regional Airport is crucial to growing our economy and is a great resource for local communities. This grant will help the airport continue to expand opportunities for Maryland’s businesses, and I’m committed to ensuring that all of our local airports have the funding they need to move our economy forward.”

Van Hollen is a member of the Senate Appropriations and Budget Committees.

The funds come from the US Department of Transportation through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program.
