WV Woman Was One Of Those Who Died In Mass Shooting In Las Vegas

She was with her husband at the concert venue.

 


Las Vegas, NV (KM) A woman who has West Virginia roots was one of the more than 59 people killed over the weekend in the shootings in Las Vegas. The Charleston Gazette Mail reports that Denise Burditus and her husband, Tony, were attending the open-air concert featuring country singer Jason Aldean on Sunday when she was fatally shot.

Burditus grew up in Hedgesville and has lived in Martinsburg.

Tony Burditus posted the news of his wife’s death on his Facebook page. He said Denise died in his arms, according to the Gazette Mail. The couple had settled in Berkeley County, WV after he retired from the US Army. They had been traveling around the country, visiting Florida, Georgia, Texas and New Orleans, the newspaper said.

A number of people posted sympathetic messages to Tony Burditus on his loss.

Police have identified the shooter as Stephen Paddock, 64, who opened fire from the 32nd floor of a Mandalay Bay Resort and  Casino. He was found dead in his room by officers.
