Hancock, Md. (DG) – An accident involving a tractor-trailer carrying frozen food has shut down I-70 in Washington County.
Maryland State Police report the accident occurred on I-70 eastbound at the 3-mile marker at around 2:45 AM in between Concrete Hill and Raylock Drive.
Police say the driver of the tractor trailer lost control and ran off to the left side of the roadway. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The tractor trailer was hauling frozen food. All travel lanes of I-70 eastbound at the accident scene are blocked. Road crews are on the scene diverting traffic off of 70 eastbound at Exit 1.
Police believe weather is a factor in the accident.
