Accident Leaves Two Dead In Northern Frederick County

Driver lost control on sharp curve.

THURMONT, Md – Two people died after a two vehicle accident Sunday in Frederick County.

Maryland State Police responded to the crash in the 15,000 block of Sabillasville Road in Thurmont just after 5 PM.

Investigators say a Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Sabillasville Road when the driver, 85 year old Richard Ditch, lost control of his car on a sharp curve.

The Toyota entered the northbound lane and was hit on the front passenger side by a Chevy pickup truck.

The front seat passenger of the Toyota, 84 year old Hilda Ditch, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richard Ditch was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he was later pronounced dead.

A passenger in the back seat, 54 year John Ditch, was also flown to Shock Trauma with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Chevy, 62 year old Michael Miller, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
