Frederick, Md (KM) A double homicide in the Frederick area remains under investigation. A man and a woman were found dead along Acacia Court Thursday morning. A suspect is in custody.
Sheriff Chuck Jenkins says deputies responded very quickly to Acacia Court at around 5:10 AM for an assault in progress. “What they did see were the two individuals laying in the roadway in the cul-de-sac, at least. At that point, severely injured, at least,” he says.
Emergency medical technicians were called to Acacia Court, and pronounced the two victims dead at the scene. “And we apparently had some information that there was an individual in the house. We set up a perimeter. A few minutes later when he fled the house, we took him into custody,” says Jenkins. He says that was around 5:20 AM.
The Sheriff’s Office has not identified the two victims and the suspect, but says they may have known each other.
The bodies of the victims were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.
Two residents in that community spoke to WFMD News. One man named Josh said he didn’t see what happened, but noticed the large police presence when he woke up.He learned from deputies a homicide was under investigation. “It’s scary especially having kids and knowing the vast majority of people you wouldn’t think that anything in that particular neighborhood or the surrounding neighborhoods would happen, ” he said.
And Charlotte was shocked to hear it was a double homicide. “Scares the hell out of me. I really thought I was in a very safe place,” she said.
Sheriff Jenkins says there’s a lot of details about this case that investigators are trying to piece together. “We have no idea why it happened, is there is a motive. We don’t know what the relationship was between the three,” he said.
Acacia Court and some surrounding roads were closed in the area where investigators were working, and was cordoned off with yellow police tape. Because the investigation was expected to last a long time, the Independent Hose Company brought along it Canteen truck to provide sustenance to detectives and other crime scene experts.
