Fire Fighter Injured Fighting House Fire Last Week

Damage totals $250,000.

 

 
Westminster, Md. (KM) One fire fighter was injured fighting a house fire last Friday afternoon in Carroll County.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says 40 fire fighters responded to 320 Pleasant Valley Road in the Westminster area shortly after 12:00 noon for a one-story, wood frame,  single family home on fire. It took almost an hour to bring the flames under control.

Damage is estimated at $200,000 to the structure, and $50,000 to the contents. .

A sprinkler system was present, but officials say the fire started on the outside of the home, and the sprinkler system didn’t activate until later into the incident.

The cause remains under investigation.

The injured fire fighter was taken to Carroll Hospital Center for treatment and was later released.

The owner of the house and his girlfriend were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
