One Killed, Three Injured In Vehicle Crash Near Hagerstown

They were all in a van from ARC of Washington County.

 

 
Hagerstown, Md. (KM) An elderly man was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Washington County Thursday afternoon.

State Police in Hagerstown say shortly before 2:00 PM, a van from the ARC of Washington County traveling east on Route 40 near Interstate 81 left the roadway, and traveled into the grass median. The van went about 200 feet before striking a tree.

A man was trapped in the front seat of the vehicle. He was extricated and taken to Meritus Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The victim is identified as David Ingram, 71, who was resident of the ARC of Washington County. A woman who was the driver and three other men in the vehicle were also transported to Meritus Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. They too are residents  of the ARC of Washington County.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time. .

State Police say Route 40 was restricted to one lane in each direction for several hours after the crash while troopers conducted an investigation. The roadway was reopened at 6:45 PM on Thursday.
