The weather is expected to change in a couple of weeks.
Hagerstown, MD. (LG) Hagerstown’s Town and Country Almanack Weather Prognosticator says temperatures have been mostly above average for this time of the year, but he’s expecting things to change. Bill O’Toole says the change should take place around December 8th. “And for at least a week or two after that we are going to get colder and probably see some snow, in the middle of the month or so.”
There’s been a straight west to east pattern that has kept temperatures warm for our area. But cold air has been building in Canada and Alaska, O’Toole continued. “But it looks like its going to break and we will be looking at a ridge building in the western part of the country, which has had most of the winter weather up to this point, and it will be warmer than normal in that part of the country for a change and the Arctic air will be sweeping down to the eastern part of the country,” he said.
“We could see several Nor’easters in Western Maryland. Frequent outbursts of Arctic air from the Northern Plains to the East Coast, coupled with an active storm track along the subtropical jet stream from Baja California to the western Gulf Coast and then to the Atlantic Coast near the Virginia-North Carolina border. This pattern brings frequent snowstorms from the central part of the country to the northeast. It is an ideal setup for Nor’easters.”
