Fire also damaged a restaurant in Brunswick.
Thurmont, Md (KM). Fire fighters in Thurmont spent Wednesday morning putting out a house fire.
Personnel were dispatched to the unit block of Lombard Street shortly after 9:01 AM. “First arriving crews saw fire showing from all sides of the two-story, single family home,” says Battalion Chief Kevin Fox with Frederick County Fire and Rescue. He says it took fire fighters less than 20-minutes to bring the flames under control.
The original call also said some people were trapped in the home during the fire. “Upon arrival of the Advanced Life Support Unit, who arrived about a minute after dispatch, they confirmed that all occupants were able to self-extricate. So they were able to get out on their own,” says Fox.
“Two occupants sustained injury. One was transported with non-life threatening injuries to Gettysburg Hospital. Another refused transport but was treated on scene,” Fox adds. No fire fighters were hurt.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
In Brunswick, fire fighters were dispatched to a restaurant on Fire Wednesday afternoon. . At around 12:30 PM, fire fighters were sent to the Wings and Pizza Shack in the 100 block of Souder Road. “Our units arrived and they found fire showing on the outside of the building, and it had spread to the interior as well through some of the outside walls,” says Fox.
Fire fighters spent 20-minutes putting out the fire. No one was hurt.
“The fire was ruled accidental by the Fire Marshal’s Office. Apparently, they were attempting to thaw some frozen pipes there. The damage was $20,000 on the structure,” Fox says.
Fire fighters remained on the scene after the flames were put out for overhaul work. “It had issues with some extension up into the walls. What we have to do is actually search for any fire spread within in those walls. That causes some additional damage as we try to make sure the fire is fully extinguished,” he says.
Fox says the Wings and Pizza Shack also sustained some water damage.
