Fire Damages Three Businesses, 29 Vehicles Wed. Morning

No one was hurt.

Frederick, Md (KM). The cause of a fire at three businesses in Frederick early Wednesday morning remains under investigation

At around 4:27 AM, fire and rescue units were dispatched to Caliber Collision in the 500 block Highland Street for a commercial building fire. Battalion Chief Kevin Fox says a passerby called 911 after seeing flames coming from the building.

“Initial arriving fire fighters reported fire through the roof. Personnel were able to knock a bulk of the flames within 15-minutes,:” says Fox. “However, it was a gas-fed fire, and were able to isolate that gas source which made for a rapid extinguishment.”

There were no injuries.

The damage estimate has yet to be determined by the County Fire Marshal’s Office, but Fox says it was “significant.”. “Our reports are that there were 29 separate vehicles that sustained damage, and three businesses were affected as a result,” he says.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

“Crews did remain on scene for about three hours till they totally confirmed the extinguishment of the fire,” says Fox.
