Retired police officer detained the suspect until authorities arrived.
Frederick, Md. (DG) – Police arrested a 48-year-old woman for a purse snatching incident Wednesday evening in Frederick.
At around 5:30 PM, officers responded to the 1600 block of Opossumtown Pike for a robbery in progress.
Arriving police learned that the victim was shopping in a nearby store. As she walked to her vehicle, the victim was approached by Sherry Lee Tinsley who demanded her purse. The victim refused and Tinsley pushed her to the ground, grabbing the purse.
While this was happening, a retired police officer was walking nearby with his dogs. He responded to the scene and was able to detain Tinsley until officers arrived.
Tinsley was taken to the Frederick County Adult Dention Center and charged with robbery, theft, and 2nd-degree assault.
