Occupants escaped safely.
Sykesivlle, Md (KM) The occupants were able to get out safely after their wood frame, single family home caught fire Friday morning in Carroll County.
About 60 fire fighters responded to 4853 Bushey Road in Sykesville at around 7:16 AM for a house fire. They spent 30-minutes bringing the flames under control. No one was injured.
Damage is estimated at $250,000 to the structure, and $50,000 o the contents.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the blaze is considered accidental, starting in the chimney.
The homeowners, who were awake at the time, noticed a possible fire in the chimney.. They and their grandchildren were able to get out the house safely.
