One involves human trafficking.
Frederick, Md (KM). A suspect allegedly involved in human trafficking in Frederick County was indicted on Friday. Abiathar Vance, 40, of Washington DC, is charged with seven counts of human trafficking, one count of conspiracy to commit human trafficking and engaging in the prostitution business.
Vance was arrested last month in Frederick for offenses which occurred between August and December of 2017. “He was basically running a prostitution business also in Frederick city,” says State’s Attorney Charlie Smith. “The patrol officers there responded to the McDonald’s on Jefferson Street in reference a concerned citizen reporting that a juvenile had been seen numerous times with an older man. Upon arrival, officers met the juvenile who was later confirmed to be a 16-year-old runaway from Prince George’s County.” Police say the victim told them she was being prostituted out by Vance.
Another indictment was handed up against Brian Orban, 37, of Frederick. He’s charged with 2nd-degree child abuse and two counts of 2nd-degree assault for an incident which occurred on December 16th, 2017 “where off of Heather Ridge Drive, the Frederick Police Department responded to a report of child abuse,” says Smith. “There’s a 12-year-old victim there. The defendant had actually walked up behind him and beat him on the back of his head with a closed fist.; also struck him multiple times in the face and the head, causing very noticeable swelling in that area.”
Grand Jurors also indicted Vincent Frank Martina, 49, of Frederick, with 2nd-degree burglary, 4th-degree storehouse burglary, theft less than $1,000 and malicious destruction of property less than $1,000 for an incident which occurred on September 22nd, 2017. “Officers from the Frederick Police Department responded to the area of Banksia Drive for a reported residential burglary. The defendant happened to live next door, broke into the victim’s residence, and stole some money and some tools,” says Smith. “And unfortunately for him left some blood when breaking out of the window so DNA linked him to the crime.”
Other indictments handed up on Friday include:
* Robert E. Dollinger, 41, of Frederick, whose charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and possession of a digital scale for an incident which occurred on December 28th, 2017.
