House In Mt. Airy Area Destroyed By Fire Wed. Afternoon

90 fire fighters responded to the scene.

 


Mt. Airy, Md (KM) Fire destroyed a two-story, single family home in the Mount Airy area Wednesday afternoon.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says fire fighters were dispatched to 5905 Cabbage Spring Road at around 4:16 PM, and spent more than an hour bringing the flames under control. A total of 90 fire fighters responded, including some from Frederick County. There were no injuries from the two-alarm blaze..

Damage is estimated at $500,000 to the structure and $150,00 to the contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Officials say the homeowner noticed the fire, and was able to get another occupant safely out of the house.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says the home had working smoke alarms.
