Damascus, Md (KM ) A Frederick man has been charged in connection with a bank robbery in Damascus. Benjamin Hansberger, 28, of the 5500 block of Foxhall Court, was arrested after robbing the M&T Bank at 9801 Main Street Friday afternoon.
Montgomery County Police say the suspect entered the establishment shortly after 2:00 PM and approached a teller. He demanded money,. indicating he had a gun. He fled in a vehicle after receiving an undetermined amount of cash.
Officers from Howard and Montgomery County Police found a vehicle in the 12400 Clarksville Pike at around 2:30 PM. All three occupants were detained. One of them was Hansberger who authorities say matched the description of the bank robbery suspect.
A search of the vehicle netted a large amount of cash and the clothing Hansberger was wearing during the bank robbery. He was taken into custody. Hansberger is charged with robbery and armed robbery.
The other two occupants of the vehicle were not charged pending further investigation, police say.
