Clarksburg High Student Charged With Bringing Gun To School

Clarksburg, Md (KM) A Clarksburg High School student was arrested on Thursday for bringing a gun to school. Alwin Chen, 18,  of the 11700 block of Gunners Drive in Germantown, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm by a person under 21, possession of a handgun and possession of a firearm on school property.

Montgomery County Police say their School Resource Officer at Clarksburg High–at 22500 Wims Road–received word that Chen may have brought a gun to school. The officer and school security personnel removed Chen from his classroom on Thursday afternoon, and took him to a school office.

When asked, Chen admitted that he had a gun in his book bag and a knife in his front pocket. The handgun and the knife were retrieved.

Police say his reasons from bringing the gun and knife to school are under investigation.

Detectives say they’re continuing to gather evidence, which includes conducting a search of Chen’s  home, and researching and confirming the ownership of the handgun, and the purchasing history of the weapon.
