His appointment was approved by the Council for the position on Tuesday.
Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Council on Tuesday appointed Ray Barnes as the County’s Chief Administrative Officer. He had been Acting Chief Administrative Officer since September 11th of last year, following the retirement of Paul Dial.
In this position, Barnes oversees the daily operation of 17 divisions under the direction of the County Executive.
Barnes retired last year as Chief Operating Officer for the Frederick County Public School System.
He has been with county government for 35 years, including his work for more than a decade at the Department of Planning and Zoning.
“Ray is a consummate professional and has gone an outstanding job,”: says County Executive Jan Gardner, in a statement. “His experience and wealth of knowledge has been a huge asset. I’m pleased to make Ray’s appointment permanent.”
