House Fire In Carroll County Displaces Family

Fire investigators says smoke alarms  alerted occupants  to the fire so they could escape.

 

Westminster, Md (KM) A family of five was displaced by a house fire early Friday morning in Westminster.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says 25 fire fighters were dispatched to the 2206 Dulaney Terrace shortly before 12:26 AM, and spent 20-minutes bringing the flames under control. There were no injuries.

Damage to the bi-level, single family home with an attached garage is estimated at $200,000 to the structure, and $50,000 to the contents. . Officials say the home had smoke alarms which are credited with saving the family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire originated in the garage.

The Winfield Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding agency,  and was assisted by fire fighters from Westminster, Sykesville, Mount Airy, New Windsor and Lisbon.

The family is being assisted by the Red Cross, along with other family members and neighbors.
